NAZ POURMALEK - PIANIST

Ms. Pourmalek debuted as a soloist with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra at the age of fifteen.  The following year she received her “Honors with Distinction” A.R.C.T.  Diploma from the Royal Conservatory of Music and was accepted – with numerous entrance scholarships – to further her studies at the University of British Columbia. Under the tutelage of the head of the Piano Department,  Professor Jane Coop, Naz was not only able to improve her technical abilities, but was also active in such leadership roles as the ‘President’ of the Music Undergraduate Student Society.  

In 2005 Naz started her private studies with Dr. Sasha Starcevich in order to prepare for auditions in the United States.  Along with acceptance into Manhattan and Eastman schools of music, Naz competed in the Missouri Southern International Piano Competition and the Pacific Piano Competition as a semi-finalist. 

Ms. Pourmalek is now attending the Eastman School of Music in New York with a generous scholarship and will be receiving her Bachelor of Music in 2009.
